London Bridge is Falling Down
I found these cute photographs in an antique store in Anna, Illinois. There is no information on the back of the pictures. It looks to me like these cute little children are playing the childhood game "London Bridge is Falling Down."
Or Oranges and Lemons? Do you know that one? If I remember rightly, the last lines of that were "Here comes a candle to light you to bed Here comes a chopper to chop off your head".
I can't say that I know that one. Sounds gruesome...so I'm sure I would've enjoyed it if someone had taught it to me. LOL. As I got older and went to slumber parties we did things like "Light as a Feather" and did the "Candyman" thing in the mirror. I used to love all that gruesome scary stuff. Not anymore though, scared me so much that now I'm afraid of the dark. I even sleep with a small light on.
I agree about summer Bible school. Or some kind of event at church because there is a really cute church in the background of the 2nd photo. I've noticed that church in the picture before but never really thought about how that could be a clue as to where this photo was taken. Looks like I need to take a little field trip and drive around Anna, Illinois and scout out their churches. I realize that the picture could be from anywhere, but since I bought it in Anna, that's probably the best place to start.
